It is my mission to help raise as much money as possible for it, so please help me, help us, help anyone who has or will have cancer! Wii Vs. 360

Until we got the 360 hooked up to the internet ($100 for a wi-fi adapter?? Geez), I was TOTALLY a Nintendo fanboy. After that, I fell in love with the 360. Nearly every game has a demo for it, that's so awesome! And Rock Band? Totally awesome! I'd definitely say worth $160 if you can either sing and do something (guitar, probably, drums are so mind-draining you'd have trouble singing at the same time), or have a friend willing to play.

Anyway, after doing this for a while, I got a 2000 point gift card for the Wii today. I forgot just how fun this thing is! I wish more games were online, but the system really is fun. I am no longer a fanboy or hater, I just love them both (well, the PS3.... dunno about you!)

Singing Is Hard!

So, I beat Rock Band on medium (guitar) and started hard. Good God!! They call it hard for a reason!!

Moving on, I started a band to play alone (guitar and singing). I figured singing would be sooooo easy, but dang it if I am bad at it! Playing medium on guitar and easy on mic, even though I'm playing guitar fine while reading and singing the lyrics, I nearly always have to bail my singing out twice. And, never ever try it with Coheed and Cambria's "Welcome Home". It's insanely hard, I lost THREE times and just gave up on it. Faith No More's "Epic" and Beastie Boys' "Sabotage" are great, though, since it's mostly spoken words, and I can talk all day.

Not One, but TWO CtC Games!

MindFool Games, a team comprised of Ariel (the artist I use too!) and Jon, a talented programmer/designer also, have released Halloween and Christmas Crush the Critters titles! They're available on the Chumby, which is basically a Flash-based touch screen portable device, sounds really cool! Anyway, check out the post about it at my Developer Blog.

Ode to Jack

Poor Jack (as they said he is at least part Jack Russell Terrier, I suppose, I will call him Jack). He made a crazy leap out of the back of a pick up truck right into the lane I was driving our Rent-a-Center truck in, and while I didn't hit him, he did tear his leg open very very very badly. It was a scarring experience, and I hope Jack is okay.

In memoriam, a brave dog who didn't even yelp in the 40 minutes I stuck by his side waiting for his owners, who practically abandoned him.

WHAT A DAY!!!!! In a Bad Way, Unfortunately...

Just when I thought finding out that it would cost $210 to replace stupid springs in a laptop that only cost $600 to begin with, the "easiest day of work in a long time" was set to begin. Boy, aren't those some famous last words?

Get to work, head out, everything seems fine. Then, heading out on a long distance trip, this dog comes diving out of the back of a pick up truck, rolls under our own truck (as I'm driving it!) and thank god we didn't hit it, but I would be surprised if the leg he cut open ever works again. After this scarring incident (see Ode to Jack, just above this post), we get lost, driving our decently-large Rent-a-Center truck up and down a narrow MOUNTAIN road, getting lost for 2 hours! Finally make it back, still in shock to discover I must immediately head back out, and this time two drivers come inches from wrecking into the truck.

I think it's about time to get back into the world of Critters, where the worst thing that happens is getting stomped on a few times :)

Welcome!

Helllooooooooooo!!! I'm Charlie, a 25 year old who loves making video games, playing video games and music, pretty much in that order. I am married to a wonderful woman named Gwen, who is a professor for a few community colleges here around the Knoxville, TN area.

I have another blog, waaaaay over here, which details my game making with Hedonism Games. You can also check out the company's home page here. Anyway, welcome and relax!

Thank you, come again!
